Performance Update

I have moved call time for Saturday to 1:45 pm at the Family Tree. Please have your singer there and ready to warm-up at that time. The attire for the performance is the same as it was for the concert last night. (Black on bottom, White on top)

December 17 Performance Time

Our performance at the Family Tree Assisted Living Center will be at 2:10 pm. I need choir members to be there at 1:30 pm so that we can warm-up and be prepared for our turn on the program.

December 6, 4 pm -- Regular Rehearsal

December 10, 10:15 am -- Dress Rehearsal at the High School Auditorium

December 12, 6 pm -- Be in the High School Choir Room to warm up prior to our concert. Concert begins at 7 pm in the High School Auditorium

December 13, 4 pm -- Rehearsal for Performance at the Family Tree (we have been asked to take 15 minutes, so we will need to add one or two simple selections to our program. It is important for all participants to attend this rehearsal.

December 17, Time TBD -- Performance at Family Tree Assisted Living Center for Charese Foster fundraiser.

December 17, after performance -- party at Heidi Farmer's home. Details to be determined.

Concert Information

Marcato Parents:

The time is drawing near for our concert. Just a few things I wanted to be sure you were aware of:

1) Our Dress Rehearsal will be on Saturday, December 10, at 10:15 am in the High School Auditorium. We will be practicing with the Morgan Community Choir at this rehearsal as well as working through our songs to make sure everyone knows where to be and when. Choir members do not need to be in concert attire for this rehearsal. If your child is unable to attend, please contact me as soon as possible.

2) Our concert will be on Monday, December 12. The concert begins at 7 pm, but I need all choir members to be at the High School choir room at 6 pm to warm up and get ready for the concert. We have also been asked by the Community Choir to bring a dozen cookies per choir member for refreshments after the concert.

3) Concert attire will be white on the top and black on the bottom. Boys are to wear white shirts with dark ties and black pants, socks, and shoes. Girls need to wear white shirts and black skirts that reach at least to the knee with black tights or nylons and black shoes. If you are struggling to find something for your child to wear, please contact me as soon as possible and we will try to find what you need.

4) Since I am also a member of the Morgan Community Choir, I will be on stage singing when our choir is not performing. So, I need to have a few parents (three or four) who will help out with the choir back stage when they are not performing. I am working out all of the details for that, so if those parents who can help out back stage could be at the dress rehearsal on the 10th so that I can give instructions, I would be very grateful! 

5) I know I am sound like a broken record, but we only have 2 rehearsals until our concert, so please continue to encourage your child to listen to the recordings I have on the website, especially Panis Angelicus. As always, those with solos need to continue working on their parts.

We have come a long way since we began in September and I'm excited to be able to show the community what Marcato Children's Choir are capable of. Dress Rehearsal

Our dress rehearsal will be on December 10 at 10:15 am in the High School Auditorium. We will be working with the Community Choir on our joint number as well as our own songs. It is very important that all choir members attend so that they will know where they will be standing and sitting throughout the concert. Choir members do NOT need to be in concert attire for this rehearsal. I do not know how long we will be there, but I anticipate we will be finished rehearsing by 11:30.

Panis Angelicus Link

We are extremely saddened by the passing of the mother/aunt of some of our choir members. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families.

Update

We have now sung through two of our four songs in their entirety. We are learning the Latin on another piece, and the fourth piece has mostly solos. We are well on our way to being ready for our December 12 concert!!

Solo Auditions!

Solo auditions are today! Best of luck to those who are auditioning!!

Solo Auditions

Solo auditions will be held for "Christmas Comes Again . . . in About Three Minutes" will be held on September 27. We will hold auditions prior to rehearsal at 3:45 pm and immediately following rehearsal at 5:00. The audition piece I would like each auditioner to sing is a section of the song "Dona Nobis." A recording of the song is located in the "Practice Tracks" tab. Good luck!

Marcato 1st Rehearsal

The first rehearsal of Marcato Children's Choir is today at 4 pm in the Middle School choir room! We have been asked to come into the building using the exterior door of the choir room. Signs will be posted to show the way to the correct door.

Parents, it would be extremely helpful if you were able to accompany your child this rehearsal. This will help us get the children where they need to be and allow us to start on time. I am not asking that you stay for the entire rehearsal, although you may if you'd like, but I want to make sure the children know where to come and that everyone has turned in a registration form. Also, I am in need of two parents to volunteer to handle registration for those who have not turned in their forms. Please leave a message or send me an email to morganvalleyvoices (at) gmail (dot) com (remove spaces and replace words in parenthesis with symbols) if you are able to do this.

I understand that several students will likely walk straight over from the Elementary School after they are released from their classes. This is fine. Starting next week, I will be offering "early bird specials" where we will play singing games prior to the beginning of rehearsal. However, since it is our first rehearsal, I will not be doing this so that I can focus on business matters prior to the start of rehearsal.

Thank you so much for your understanding and willingness to have your children be part of our children's choir. I am looking forward to working with them.

There's Still Time to Register Your Singer!

This week marks the first rehearsal for Marcato Children's Choir! I have talked to many people about getting their child registered for the choir but have not received registration information from some of you. If you have not yet sent me your registration and are still interested in signing your singer up, please leave a comment here with your intent to register your child for Marcato. Then you can bring your child and their registration information to our first rehearsal on September 6. Thank you!

Look what I spied on the Middle School marquee . . .

I have to admit, I got pretty excited when I saw it because it means Marcato Children's Choir is starting SOON!! Can't wait to see everyone there! It will be so much fun!!

Accompanist Needed

MVV is seeking an accompanist to play for Marcato Children's Choir. Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesdays at 4-5 pm. Please contact Heidi Farmer by phone (801-820-3000) or by email (morganvalleyvoices@gmail.com) to discuss details and compensation.
